One of the challenges in scoring the points value of races where tracks may have vastly different car counts, is how to go about weighting the result. SCORA uses a simple formula. If you race two other cars, you will not receive as high a score as someone placing the same in a ten car race. We also want to reward race wins, without it creating an insurmountable lead. Winners get a one point bonus.
Points for finishing positions
- 1 – 20 plus car count
- 2 – 18 plus car count
- 3 – 17 plus car count
- 4 – 16 plus car count
- 5 – 15 plus car count
- 6 – 14 plus car count
- 7 – 13 plus car count
- 8 – 12 plus car count
- 9 – 11 plus car count
- 10 – 10 plus car count
Keep deducting 1 point as you go down the finishing positions.
Examples:
- Driver A wins a 5 car SCORA sanctioned race. They receive 25 points.
- Driver B places 5th in a 10 car SCORA sanctioned race. They receive 25 points.
A side benefit is that racers who want more points will help recruit racers for your track.
